⚡ Torque Sensor

Tongsheng TSDZ2B

A highly regarded torque-sensing crank drive kit — power that feels completely natural, proportional to how hard you pedal. Available in 48V. Complete kit with battery and charger, or motor only if you already have a 48V battery.

Why choose the TSDZ2B?

🦵
Torque Sensing — Like Having Bionic Legs
Unlike a cadence sensor (which simply detects that you're pedalling), a torque sensor measures exactly how hard you're pushing. The motor delivers power that is precisely proportional to your effort — so the bike feels like a powerful natural extension of your own legs, not a separate machine.
⛰️
Powerful Hill Climbing
At 48V, the TSDZ2B delivers strong torque for steep hills. Because it drives through your bike's gears, you can select the right gear for the gradient — far more effective than a hub motor on challenging terrain.
🔋
Better Range than Cadence Systems
Because the motor only delivers power in proportion to your pedalling effort, you naturally work a little harder — which means the battery lasts longer. Torque systems tend to give better range than cadence systems for the same battery size.
🛒
Buy Motor-Only If You Have a 48V Battery
If you already own a compatible 48V battery from a previous kit, you can purchase just the TSDZ2B motor without a battery — a useful saving. Email us to discuss and we'll advise on compatibility.

What's new in Revision B?

✦ TSDZ2B improvements over the original TSDZ2

  • New double-clutch main gear assembly — replaces the original single clutch, which was a known weak point. The new assembly is slightly stiffer initially but wears in quickly and greatly reduces drag when pedalling without power.
  • Blue one-way clutch bearing replaced with a stronger new assembly — eliminating the most common failure point of the original motor.
  • Bottom bracket axle lateral movement virtually eliminated — giving a much more solid, precise feel.
  • V-shaped bracket now has splines on the frame side to key into the bottom bracket shell — you can install without the anti-torque bracket on most frames (useful if you have a prop stand between the chainstays).
  • Better quality rubber water seals throughout for improved weatherproofing.

Torque sensor vs Cadence sensor

This Kit

Installation in 6 steps

1
Remove your bottom bracket and front derailleur
You'll need a crank puller and a bottom bracket removal tool. If you can remove your bottom bracket yourself, you have the tools needed for the whole job.
2
Insert the motor and fit the motor hanger
The TSDZ2B fits into the bottom bracket shell. The V-shaped bracket has splines to key into the shell — on most bikes you won't need the anti-torque bracket. Fasten the bottom bracket securely.
3
Install the battery
Mount the battery to your downtube using the supplied cradle. Please email us a photo of your downtube before ordering so we can confirm the best battery option for your frame.
4
Install the LCD display
The VLCD5 LCD display mounts on your handlebars. You'll need a clear space of around 50mm. The display shows speed, battery level, assist level, and trip data.
5
Connect the waterproof cables and battery connector
Simple plug-and-play wiring — all connectors are waterproof and keyed so they only connect one way. Route cables neatly along the frame using the supplied cable ties.
6
Fit the throttle and brake handles
Install the thumb throttle and brake levers on your handlebars. If you have hydraulic brakes, you'll need hydraulic brake sensors (available separately — ask us). Test everything before your first ride.

Frequently asked questions

Will it fit my bike?
The TSDZ2B fits standard 68–73mm bottom bracket shells. Before ordering, please email us a couple of photos of your bike (or tell us the model) to kits@wooshbikes.co.uk. We'll check compatibility before you commit to buying — no nasty surprises.
Can I buy just the motor if I already have a 48V battery?
Yes — if you already own a compatible 48V battery, you can purchase just the TSDZ2B motor kit without a battery. Email us with the details of your existing battery and we'll confirm compatibility before you order.
Is the TSDZ2B better than the BBS01B?
It depends on what matters most to you. The TSDZ2B's torque sensor gives a more natural, smooth ride feel — like having bionic legs. It also tends to give better range. The BBS01B's cadence sensor is more flexible and forgiving, and costs a little less. If you have any physical difficulty pedalling, cadence sensing is generally the better choice. Give us a ring and we'll help you decide.
Is the TSDZ2B still available, or should I buy the TSDZ8?
The TSDZ2B is available while stocks last — we are gradually phasing it out in favour of the newer TSDZ8, which is our top-selling kit. If you're happy with the TSDZ2B's specification and budget, it remains an excellent kit. If you'd like the latest model, go for the TSDZ8. We hold spare parts for both.
Can I fit it myself?
Yes, if you are competent and experienced at fitting electric kits to bikes. You'll need a crank puller and bottom bracket tool. If you're not confident, we can put you in touch with a local technical helper in your area — you'll need to pay them for their time. Email us for details.
What is your warranty and returns policy?
Full warranty is included. If we cannot fix a kit under warranty, we will offer a refund based on the condition, age, and mileage of the kit. Faults caused by incorrect installation or misuse are not covered. Please see our Sales Conditions for full details.
How should I get in touch to order?
Please email kits@wooshbikes.co.uk with your bike details and a couple of photos. This helps us advise properly and remember your requirements. All prices include UK delivery.
